Meet Esther: a Trauma-Informed Reflexologist from Newquay (in this universe!)
What is your current role in Health & Wellbeing and what does it involve?
I work with a wide range of clients helping them tune into their physical and emotional state. Through co-regulation we listen together to the body and mind providing a space for restoration. I am passionate about sharing the benefits of reflexology with others through workshops and pop-up events and over the past couple of years I have worked in collaboration with a number of charities extending the availability of this gentle put powerful holistic practice to individuals who are experiencing emotionally challenging personal experiences.
Can you recommend a simple wellness practice that anyone can incorporate into their daily routine?
Simple small steps including daily relaxation, mindfulness and regular movement can all help us on a day-to-day basis to reduce stress levels and improve our wellbeing however actually putting this into practise can be a challenge, this was defiantly the case for me. If you can relate, and need some help I recommend reading Atomic Habits by James Clear an easy-to-read book to help you stick to healthy habits, I love his ideas and helpful tips.
What’s your favourite part of Cornwall and why?
I was born in Guernsey then moved to the lake district before coming to Cornwall to bring up my family, I miss trees so my favourite place in Cornwall has got to be one of the numerous river woodland walks to the sea, enabling me to get my tree fix before taking a swim….jumping in the waves for me is a guaranteed smile generator…..even in the winter !
What is your guilty pleasure?
My guilty pleasure has got to be homemade cake, and in another life, I would defiantly be a well-loved house cat preferably living in a warm climate.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
I will leave you with a great quote from Atomic Habits …. ‘small step’s lead to remarkable results’
