At Sowena, we believe that wellbeing belongs to everyone which is why we are proud to offer the opportunity of experiencing bespoke wellbeing day retreats on a sliding scale of affordability.
Led by experienced and passionate hosts, we help people reconnect, recharge, and find balance without barriers.
Join us to experience a supportive environment where your peace of mind and relaxation are prioritised, helping you feel less stressed, more relaxed, and in control of your self-care and thoughts.
Every booking helps us fund a space for someone who needs it. We’re here to make wellbeing possible for all, through our not for profit work, helping to pave the way for a healthier and happier Cornwall.
Everything we do is guided by our ethos which is shaped by the practitioners and community who use and make Sowena what it is.
Generosity
We give more than expected in every interaction.
Community
Practitioners and participants are welcomed as collaborators, not competitors. We grow slowly and sustainably, building together on consistency and trust rather than pressure and pace.
Authenticity
No performative wellness. Everyone is welcome.
Nature as the foundation
We believe connection to the natural world is fundamental to human wellbeing. We hold deep respect for the land, the seasons, and the rhythms that sustain us. Rest is built in.
Access
We are working towards a world where financial barriers do not determine who gets to feel well. That work is ongoing and at the centre of everything Sowena builds.
Imagine accessing 15+ wellness classes in a single day for less than the cost of two individual sessions. That’s the Sunshine & Soul Fest offer.
Let’s talk value.
A single wellness class typically costs £10 to £30. To try everything at Sunshine & Soul Fest individually? You’d be looking at hundreds of pounds. Your £45 ticket gives you access to ALL of it across the whole day.
This is possible because every practitioner I work with at this festival has chosen to come together for the benefit of our community.
In a single day, you could:
You’re free to create your own journey with no pressure and no fixed schedule. Just the space to explore, rest, move, and connect.
I am really proud to host this wellbeing festival and even prouder to say that this kind of value doesn’t exist anywhere else.
Sunshine & Soul is over and out for 2026…stay tuned for 2027 ticket release.
Attending Jon’s Mindfulness classes during the 2020 lockdowns marked a significant turning point in my life. After a major upheaval left my mental wellbeing fragile and my future uncertain, these sessions became a vital support. They taught me to observe my thoughts and emotions rather than reacting impulsively. Jon guided me to discover a newfound inner strength – the ability to enjoy solitude, appreciate my self worth without guilt, and find happiness within myself. I learned to embrace my value confidently, to overcome my fear of being ‘too much’, and recognised that my inner dialogue is just fleeting chatter that I can control.
What Sowena Is – In Our Community’s Words
The words below were spoken by the practitioners and attendees who came together and told us what Sowena is to them:
An open cup: Sowena is whatever you need it to be, in the moment you need it. Take what you want, give what you want, receive what you want.
A bridge into self care: Sowena is a bridge and crossing point meeting people exactly where they are, and carrying them towards care they might not otherwise find or feel able to reach. And the bridge runs both ways in that people aren’t just coming in, but they are going back out over the bridge carrying what they’ve learned back into their families and communities.
A toolkit: The experience isn’t meant to stay at the cabin. It’s a box of tools people can build up and reach for long after they’ve left.
A treasure chest of trust: Every practitioner recommended through Sowena has been (or will be) experienced first hand by someone on the Sowena committee. It matters to us that when we promote someone, our community knows we mean it.
Seasonal by design: Sowena moves with the seasons protecting the land, and protecting the energy of everyone who works and gathers here. Rest is built in.
An engine house: Full of potential, generating real energy, momentum and connection and like any engine house still working through the cracks.
Respect for the family land: Sowena sits on land held with care across nearly 40 years in the family. The practitioners in the room named this themselves, unprompted as it matters to them as much as it matters to us.
